Rotten Blood - Taints Overview

Rotten Blood - Taints Overview Primal Ordeal cycle

Taints are a shared value from 0 to 4 saved under the player Rotten Blood quest state. One number drives multiple systems at the same time: monster scaling in Rotten Blood areas, Bag You Covet behavior, and progression logic for Bakragore access checks.

Monster strength in Rotten Blood areas

In Rotten Blood hunt and boss zones, scaling is based on the taints of the player the monster is targeting. It is not based on nearby players without aggro.

Mechanic Per taint (1-4) At 4 taints
Monster max HP +5% of original base max HP +20% max HP
Monster outgoing damage +5% damage dealt +20% damage dealt

The script preserves each monster's base max HP once, then scales max and current HP from that base to avoid unstable jumps. Outside Rotten Blood strength zones (or without proper aggro), this scaling is not applied.

Bag You Covet on Rotten Blood monsters

On the Rotten Blood monsters shown below, Bag You Covet Bag You Covet drop chance is based on your current taints. More taints means better bag chance over time.

Sopping Corpus Bloated Man-Maggot Mycobiontic Beetle Oozing Corpus Oozing Carcass Sopping Carcass Rotten Man-Maggot Meandering Mushroom Darklight Emitter Darklight Construct Wandering Pillar Converter Walking Pillar Darklight Source Darklight Striker Darklight Matter
  • This bag chance only applies to the Rotten Blood monsters listed below.
  • If your taints are 0 (or no valid loot owner is set), Bag You Covet cannot drop from this system.
  • Higher taints means better long-term Bag You Covet drops on these monsters.
  • Taints from NPC and taints from boss progression both improve the bag chance in the same way.

Bag You Covet and experience bonus by taint

This combined chart shows Rotten Blood taint rewards in one place. It applies on supported Rotten Blood monsters and only when your Rotten Blood taint value is above 0.

Taints Average kills per Bag You Covet XP bonus
1Bag You Covetper 20,000 kills+4.5%
2Bag You Covetper 17,500 kills+9.2%
3Bag You Covetper 15,000 kills+14.1%
4Bag You Covetper 12,000 kills+19.2%

These are RNG averages, not guarantees on exact kill counts. Higher loot-rate settings can improve results further over time.

Boss cycle: taints and cooldowns

For minibosses (Murcion, Chagorz, Ichgahal, Vemiath), taints increase on a qualifying kill only when that boss was off cooldown for the player. A fresh qualifying kill sets a new 10-hour cooldown and adds +1 taint (cap 4). If cooldown is still active, that kill does not add another taint.

On Bakragore kill, taints are reset to 0, ending the current taint stack cycle.

Bakragore entry rules

The Bakragore lever-room check enforces two conditions in sequence (after level requirement):

  1. All four miniboss cooldowns must still be active (future timestamp).
  2. Then taints must be at least 4.

This is why NPC-only taint increases do not normally unlock Bakragore by themselves: without the four active miniboss cooldown states, access fails at step 1 before taints are evaluated.

Player-facing summary

System Uses taints? Practical note
Monster HP + damage in RB zones Yes Same taint value; any source that increases taints can increase hunt difficulty once monsters target you.
Bag You Covet Bag You Covet Yes No taints means no dynamic bag chance; NPC-set and boss-earned taints both increase this chance on the listed Rotten Blood monsters.
Bakragore teleporter Cooldowns + taints Requires all 4 miniboss cooldowns active and taints >= 4.
Bakragore Bakragore kill Resets taints Sets taints back to 0 and starts a new cycle.

One value, different rule layers

  • There is one stored taint field for Rotten Blood progression.
  • Monster scaling, bag behavior, and UI indicators mostly ask: "How high is taints?"
  • Bakragore access additionally asks: "Are all four miniboss cooldowns still valid?"

Rotten Blood bosses: simple route and requirements

Rotten Blood has four miniboss routes (Murcion, Chagorz, Ichgahal, Vemiath) and one final boss route (Bakragore). Think of it as one cycle: prepare -> kill minibosses -> unlock Bakragore -> reset cycle.

Basic route flow

  • This section focuses on the practical route cycle: build charges, kill minibosses, then unlock Bakragore.
  • Bakragore has extra cycle conditions (see below) compared to the four miniboss routes.

Hunt preparation before miniboss levers

Before a miniboss fight starts, players must build the required boss resource inside the correct hunt area. Required player level is 250.

Boss route What you must prepare Simple explanation
MurcionMurcion Charges to 100 Stay in the right area until full, then queue at lever.
IchgahalIchgahal Charges to 100 Same idea: fill to 100 before lever starts.
VemiathVemiath Divine energy to 100 Build energy in-zone, then enter lobby.
ChagorzChagorz Energy to 100 + danger management You must fill energy while controlling danger spikes.
BakragoreBakragore No 100-charge gate in this route script Entry is controlled by cycle conditions instead.

Lever to arena (how fights start)

  • Players stand on waiting tiles in the lobby.
  • Lever teleports the group to fixed arena start tiles.
  • Leaving/resetting cleans route states (resources, timers, icons) according to that boss route.

Arena mechanics in plain terms

Boss What players should expect
MurcionMurcion Boss trails can heal the boss; positioning matters a lot.
IchgahalIchgahal Trail states evolve and can boost boss healing if unmanaged.
ChagorzChagorz Standing still is punished; trails hurt players and can heal the boss.
VemiathVemiath Ground effects + anti-standing pressure; fields damage players and can heal boss.
BakragoreBakragore Combined blood + powder logic; movement and spacing are critical.

Kill cycle rules (cooldowns + taints)

  • A miniboss kill gives +1 taint only if that boss cooldown was expired for that player.
  • Qualifying kill sets that boss cooldown to 10 hours.
  • If cooldown is still active, you do not gain another taint from that kill.
  • Killing Bakragore resets taints to 0 and starts a new cycle.

Bakragore entry conditions (simple)

  • Level requirement must be met.
  • All four miniboss cooldowns must be active from recent qualifying kills.
  • Taints must be at least 4.

This is why NPC-only taint increases do not normally unlock Bakragore by themselves. You still need the full miniboss cycle state.

Quick player flow

  1. Prepare each miniboss route resource to full (and manage Chagorz danger).
  2. Do qualifying miniboss kills to build taints and activate all four cooldowns.
  3. Enter Bakragore once cooldowns + taints requirements are satisfied.
  4. Kill Bakragore; taints reset and a new cycle begins.
